Are you curious about electric bikes and eager to take one for a ride? Join the Bicycle Sport Shop team for a ten-mile guided ride around Austin, with a mid-way rest stop for coffee on us. We’ll set you up on a new Specialized Turbo Como or Specialized Vado, incredibly comfortable and versatile pedal assist bikes that are sure to put a huge smile on your face. We’ve planned a fun route around Austin that will highlight some of the best bike facilities in the city and will climb a couple of seriously steep hills so you can fully experience the power of pedal assist. We’ll ride for about 2 hours.
These rides are shine only, so if inclement weather is threatening and we believe it necessary to cancel, we’ll notify you by 10 PM the night before the ride and refund your reservation.

If you’ve been considering getting into the world of Cyclocross, BSSCX is hosting a 4-part beginner clinic on Wednesdays to pass on the skills of mounts, dismounts, cornering, braking, sand, etc, and get you CX ready. Our club captains and members with all their CX knowledge and skills will be there to teach, encourage, build, and make you more confident in your CX skillset. Each clinic will start with a little warm-up riding to loosen you up and get ready for the fun, then dive into CX 101.
The Cyclocross race season starts mid-September! And these clinics will teach you the techniques that are key to breaking you into the world of CX racing.
August 29: Clinic #1 – Cornering & Braking
Northeast Metro Park, 6:30-8 PM
Are you rolling around on rocks? We’ll adjust your tire pressure and give you some grip and cushion! Then we’ll work on smooth braking and confident turns. Smooth is faster, easier, and more fun!
September 5: Clinic #2 – Dismounts & Remounts
Northeast Metro Park, 6:30-8 pm
We’ll take a look at your clipless or flat pedals to get you set for…dismounts and remounts! We’ll show you the smooth and easy way to get on and off your bike for the stuff you can’t ride.
September 12: Clinic #3 – Sands & Hills
Richard Moya Park, 6:30-8 PM
When to run or ride the sand and hills. We’ll help you with the tricks and tips to ride obstacles with confidence or know when it is time to run. You’ll learn to ride across hillsides (off cambers) like a pro.
September 19: Clinic #4 – Pull It All Together, Mini CX Course
Richard Moya Park, 6:30-8 PM
Putting all of the previous weeks’ lessons together and ride a mini-course! This is the best part – showing off all the things you’ve learned!
